Agriplast® sustainability:
Innovation, responsibility, future
We work every day to reduce environmental impact,
enhance recycling, and promote a regenerative industrial model.
Administrator’s statement
Since their introduction, plastic materials have revolutionized the world thanks to their extremely low cost, ease of production and transformation, and the energy efficiency of their processing. These materials have made many products more accessible to consumers due to lower production costs, improved industrial processes, and reduced environmental risks in agriculture. They have also made our operating rooms safer and, in many cases, turned out to be more sustainable solutions than those previously adopted. These are just a few examples that highlight the extraordinary potential and countless applications of plastics.
However, due to their exceptional properties, irresponsible use and inadequate waste collection systems have over time led to significant environmental impacts and a build-up of plastic waste in our ecosystems. Fully aware of the immense potential of plastic materials—and of the responsibilities they entail—we have shaped Agriplast’s investments and development strategy by directing our efforts toward increasingly sustainable solutions and processes, while still ensuring technical and economic advantages for our clients.
Changes made to our production process—such as upgrading machinery and installing large-scale photovoltaic systems—have not only reduced the company’s environmental impact and placed Agriplast among the most advanced in the industry, but have also, in many cases, lowered long-term costs, making Agriplast more competitive in international markets.
The use of technologically advanced machinery has enabled us to produce thinner films that maintain the same performance, thereby reducing the amount of virgin raw material introduced into the market while also lowering the cost of our products for end users. These same machines have also improved the energy efficiency of our production processes, further reducing both our carbon footprint and production costs.
A major focus has been placed on our circular economy project—a process that aims to maximize the value of materials by extending their lifecycle and minimizing or eliminating waste and production scraps, which are now viewed as resources to be reused as inputs in production cycles different from the original one.
Thanks to new innovative investments, our recycling processes now allow us to recover and minimize our own production waste, which is then reintegrated into the production cycle. Regarding the reuse of post-consumer materials, in 2020 we obtained PSV (Plastica Seconda Vita) certification, issued by IPPR (Institute for the Promotion of Recycled Plastics). This certification enables us to manufacture products containing 30%, 50%, or 70% recycled plastic, traceable throughout the entire life cycle—a solution that allows us to reduce the environmental impact of our products transparently and safely.
The decision to launch a non-financial reporting process is another step in this direction. It will allow our stakeholders to follow Agriplast’s sustainable growth path and help us better plan our future objectives.
Second life plastic: traceability, transparency, sustainability
We are among the first Italian companies certified with PSV – Second Life Plastic,
with production lines dedicated to post-consumer recycled materials.
Over 70% of our plastic waste is recovered and reintegrated into the production cycle.
Thanks to our in-house recycling facilities and careful material selection,
we give new life to plastic in a safe and controlled way.
Health, safety and environment
Agriplast promotes a culture of safety, aware that people are the real strength of the company.
We encourage responsible behavior, apply safe methods, provide continuous training,
and fully comply with current regulations.
We use modern technologies to reduce physical strain and prevent fatigue,
protecting the well-being of our operators.
Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) and innovation
We have launched an LCA (Life Cycle Assessment) study on our plastic films and industrial bags,
with the goal of obtaining the Environmental Product Declaration (EPD) according to ISO 14025.
We monitor every phase of the life cycle to continuously improve the environmental performance of our products.
